A Family's Unspoken Love - Part 12

Ragini halted as she approached Deepti. She asked with an agitated tone, "Aren't you happy, Dee? I thought you'd be thrilled when I saw you." Her teeth were clenched in anger.

Deepti gazed at them with an expressionless face.

"Sister, let's put all this behind us," Revathy suggested as she grabbed Ragini and urged her forward.

Gayatri shot a furious look at Deepti and joined them.

A smile graced Deepti's lips as she watched the two injured men make their way.

The experiences she had gone through had brought about a transformation in her, one that had turned her eyes dry despite what anyone said in the past.

Hearing his phone ringing, Hari answered the call.

"Harry, how did they get there?" Achu asked eagerly.

"They've arrived, with bandages on their heads and hands," Harry replied, a smile evident in his voice.

"What's going on? I don't understand," Achu said, confused.

"Something serious has happened. It appears to be an accident. They have wounds on their heads and hands," Harry explained.

"That's not good... Anyway, we'll learn more when Deepu calls," Achu remarked.

"Ah."

"Weren't you planning to leave?"

"No, that girl seems to be pondering something important in the yard."

"Hey, don't pry, okay?"

"Alright, Dee. I'll see you tonight."

"Okay, Dee."

Hari placed his phone in his pocket and started his motorcycle.

Meanwhile, Ragini reclined on the bed.

"Revathi, can I have some water?" she requested.

"Sure, I'll go get it," Revathi said. As she exited the room, Ragini picked up her phone, dialed a number, and held it to her ear.

The call connected.

"Kumar, didn't you do as I instructed?" Ragini inquired angrily.

"My dear sister, I'm in the hospital with broken arms and legs," Kumar replied.

"What happened to you?"

"That's right... On my way back from the shop last night, someone pushed me into the canal."

"Did you see who did it?"

"No, I had eaten a bit too much, and I couldn't see properly outside. It all happened so suddenly."

"Mmm," Ragini muttered, ending the call and angrily tossing her phone onto the bed.

"Oh my God... Water..." Revathi offered Ragini a glass.

"Just leave it there, Revathi. I'll have it in a while."

"Why, what happened?"

"Nothing, Revathi."

"Alright."

"When are you leaving?" Ragini asked, looking at Revathi.

"I'll be heading back soon. The kids are alone at home. Without me, things won't go smoothly. I'll visit occasionally."

"I see."

"In that case, I'll be on my way," Revathi said, placing the glass on the table.

"Okay."

As Revathi left, Ragini closed her eyes. All the anger that she had kept bottled up was now reflected on her face.

Deepu prepared a meal of porridge, lentils, and chutney for everyone and served them individually. Revathi and Giri had already returned home.

The days passed one after another, with Krishna, Ragini, and Gayathri outwardly maintaining their anger but still relying on Deepti for assistance. Over time, Deepti saw it as her duty to help them as needed.

As the days passed, the trio gradually recovered under Deepti's care. Although Ragini and Gayathri didn't openly acknowledge her kindness, Krishna's attitude toward her showed slight signs of change.

In the meantime, the results for Achu, Deepu, and Hari arrived. Achu achieved a high rank, while Deepu and Hari passed with excellent scores. Learning of the results boosted Deepti's self-confidence.

Unlike in the past, she no longer paid heed to what others said, responding confidently whenever necessary. Ragini's thoughts, meanwhile, revolved around Deepti's downfall.

She feared that her plan would be thwarted when she heard Krishna speaking up for her.

After a video call with Hari and Achu, Deepti was getting ready to go to bed when Hari's voice call came in again. She picked up her phone and answered.

"Hello..."

"Deepu..."

"What is it..."

"Dee needs to come to Grandma's house tomorrow evening."

"Alright, I'll be there, da."

"Goodnight, Dee."

"Goodnight, da..."

Deepti stared at her phone for a moment after the call ended. Then, she switched it off and went to sleep, unaware of what awaited her the next evening.
