The autopilot system has always been a headache for Tesla, despite being one of the pioneers in electric vehicles.

Tesla has faced accidents caused by driving on the autopilot system and the actions that followed. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 956 accidents have been reported in the United States since 2019 due to a flaw in the autopilot system.

Tesla is finally in the process of examining a malfunction in the autopilot system. About 20 lakh vehicles have been recalled in the US and Canada for this purpose.

The action to inspect the vehicles has been taken in the wake of accidents that occurred due to the failure of the autopilot system. A former Tesla employee recently revealed that the autopilot system provided at Tesla was not safe.

Tesla's Model S, Model Y, Model 3 and Model X, which have been manufactured since 2012 and have been equipped with autopilot features, have been recalled for testing. In a recall notice, Tesla said it was making necessary updates to the software through the over-the-air system instead of bringing the vehicle to showrooms.

It is estimated that people misusing the auto-pilot system could be the reason for the accidents. Autopilot SAE is for driver assistance.

The level 2 driving automation system is provided. However, considering it as a system in which the vehicle runs on its own, it leads to accidents.

In the auto-pilot system too, it is suggested to have a hand on the steering wheel and an eye on the road, but this is not followed, leading to accidents.

Last year, the U.S. Department of Justice ordered a criminal investigation against Tesla, owned by Elon Musk, in the wake of autopilot-related accidents.

At the same time, Tesla has claimed that safety standards will be made more stringent in the autopilot system. However, the revelations made by tesla's former employee Lukas Krupsky refute tesla's claims.
